100

Has your son/daughter been in school for 100 days yet?

My son came home from school on Friday and shouted, “On Monday, it will be my 100th day of school!”

He seemed very excited for this special occasion.  When I asked him if there were going to be fun activities planned for the day he replied, “No.”

The fact that he knew it was going to be the 100th day of school has led me to believe that his teacher probably has some fun activities planned.  Why discuss it in class if you are not going to incorporate it into a lesson?  We’ll see what he says when he comes home today.

I decided that I would have a back up plan just in case there are no 100th day activities done at school.

Idea of the Day:

Celebrate the 100th day of school.

Books:

The 100th Day of School by Angela Medearis

One Hundred Hungry Ants by Elinor J. Pinczes

From One to One Hundred by Teri Sloat

Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten by Joseph Slate

I Can Count 100 Bunnies by Cyndy Szekeres

Emily’s First 100 Days of School by Rosemary Wells

Fluffy’s 100th Day at School by Kate McMullan

100 Monsters in My School by Bonnie Bader

There are many others as well.

Activities:

I was surprised to find so many different activities and websites related to 100 days of school.

Examples:

- Making Cheerio or Fruit Loop necklaces with 100 pieces of cereal.

- Being quiet for 100 seconds (not sure of the success rate of this activity).

- Counting 100 pennies

- Putting together a 100 piece puzzle.

- Counting by 5s or 10s to 100.
