About Me
My name is Rachel Buhr and I am a stay at home mom to two wonderful children. My son is in 1st grade and my daughter started preschool this year.
Before staying home, I taught high school Spanish and then middle school English as a Second Language. Yes I am proud to say I taught middle school and enjoyed it!
During my time at home, I have completed my master’s degree in education with an emphasis on second langauges and cultures. Needless to say I love language learning and feel that I have a great deal of knowledge in this area to share with others.
My motivation for creating this blog, comes from a comment a parent made while I was attending an ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) class. We were discussing what are kids were learning and she said, “I don’t want to teach my kids too much or they will be bored in Kindergarten.” This comment made me FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! From birth to age six a child’s brain is growing and developing unlike any other time in his/her life. Why not expose him/her to as much as possible and develop both the left and right brain?
Therefore my mission is…..
To have all children be bored in Kindergarten!
I truly believe that children are like little sponges. The early years are critical for future academic success.
I want all little minds to reach their maximum potential!
Each day I will start with an idea and/or tip of the day. The daily blogs will vary from educational words of wisdom to the chaos of parenting.
I will update the blog Monday through Friday with an occasional weekend post as well.
A Big Thanks:
I need to take the time to thank my husband. Without his technical intelligence, I would have many ideas in my head, but no blog to share them. Thank you!!
